School Kid

The Frick’s education department designs programs that explore the interdisciplinary nature of the site.

From fine art in The Frick Art Museum to primary sources in Clayton to the industry of transportation in our Car and Carriage Museum, our programs stress hands-on, interactive learning, provide collaborative experiences, and encourage deductive reasoning and critical thinking for all ages.

School Groups

Knowledgeable. Engaging. Interdisciplinary. Relevant. These are just some of the words teachers have used to describe our museum educators and the tours and workshops we provide for students of all ages. At the Frick, we offer an array of creative, interactive, hands-on learning experiences that bring classrooms back year after year.

As a single institution with multiple collections, the Frick Art & Historical Center experience equals more than the sum of its parts. Our interdisciplinary, standards-based programs can be customized to fit your curriculum needs, just give us call!

Contact our Education Department by phone at 412-205-2022, weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m, or via e-mail to discuss a variety of options for your school visit.

What teachers are saying about us

Thank you so much for yet another wonderful field trip. The rain did not even dampen my students’ enthusiasm. They loved their day. Many said it was their favorite field trip to date. My parent chaperones were even more excited than my students for the day and they were not disappointed. Many sent me notes thanking me for planning such a worthwhile trip for their children.

Shirley Bates, St Alphonsus School, Wexford, PA

The Frick is the best museum in Pittsburgh. There is so much to do and such a variety to do that multiple groups could be here and engaged in something of interest to all.

Lisa Machado, Bethel Park School District

The docents were knowledgeable and ‘kid-friendly.’

Karen McDowell, Campus School of Carlow University

The GATE/STARR team at PA Cyber offers several field trips each year. The Frick experience is one of the best organized, highly educational, and well-taught events that we attend.

Marian Acon, PA Cyber School

Wonderful field trip experience for my students. We look forward to it every year. It has been written into our 11th grade curriculum!
Brian Devinney, Pine-Richland High School

Your tour guides/docents were very knowledgeable and worked very well with the diverse age range that was brought to your facility. The students have been commenting ever since their trip that they were surprised art and history could be so much fun! Great work! We will be back! We have also discussed the facilities and our experience with various teachers from neighboring schools and districts!
Greg Adams, Freeport Area High School
