Music for Exhibitions: What New Astonishments! Chatham Baroque and Katherine Soroka, soprano

Exhibition: From Michelangelo to Annibale Carracci—A Century of Italian Drawings from the Prado.

The reincarnation of the poet as a solo singer by late sixteenth-century Italian composers created a new art—opera. The road on which music of the individual virtuoso traveled was thus forever changed. Take this journey exploring states of the soul in music of the late Renaissance and early Baroque with Chatham Baroque—Scott Pauley (theorbo, lute and baroque guitar), Patricia Halverson (viola da gamba) and Andrew Fouts (baroque violin)—and soprano soloist Katherine Soroka as they perform works by Caccini, Castello, Monteverdi, Strozzi, and Stradella.

The subscription plans that were introduced last season proved so popular we’re bringing them back. This includes the Café and Concert subscription, which provides the opportunity to combine the concerts with a pre-concert dinner at The Café at the Frick, one of Pittsburgh’s finest restaurants.
