Book club

Is your book group interested in taking the experience of a book to the next level?

We recommend three books:

The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
This book discusses the incredible events surrounding the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.

Old Masters, New World: America’s Raid
on Europe’s Great Pictures
by Cynthia Saltzman
This book explores the transatlantic migration of art in the late 1800s brought about by American collectors, including Henry Clay Frick.

Clara and Mr. Tiffany by Susan Vreeland
The story of two figures--one the giant of American decorative arts, the other unknown--as they engage each other, collaborating, probing and frustrating each other, stumbling over their passions.

Come for a special tour of Clayton followed by a half-hour discussion about one of these three books led by your Clayton docent, offered at the special price of $10.00 per person.

To schedule, please call Amanda Gillen, Assistant Curator of Education and Collections for Clayton at 412-371-0600, ext. 529.
