New Full and Partial Open Days at The Frick Pittsburgh
Like many small businesses, The Frick Pittsburgh is finding it extremely difficult to maintain full staffing, given the widespread labor shortages and ongoing periodic absences related to Covid-19.

Rather than inconvenience you with unscheduled service interruptions, we have decided to concentrate our resources on our four busiest days—Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. On those days, The Frick Art Museum, the Car and Carriage Museum, and Clayton—as well as the Museum Store, the Greenhouse, and The Café at the Frick— will be open, and most of our public tours and events will take place.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, The Café at the Frick and (effective July 5) the Museum Store will be closed. Public tours of Clayton will not be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is certainly not what we had in mind as we planned to reopen the Frick fully this summer! But these changes are only temporary, and we believe they are the best option available to us now.

Fortuitously, these changes even have a silver lining: Since school groups do not typically make use of the Museum Store or Café, we are encouraging K-12 educators and other community learning partners to consider scheduling their field trip visits on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

What does this mean for you, as you plan your next visit to the Frick?
If your schedule is flexible, you may wish to visit on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, when all amenities are open to the public. If you are bringing a school group, then your students may have more room to spread out for unhurried exploration on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Of course, we recognize that not all visitors will have scheduling flexibility. School groups that need to visit later in the week will still be able to do so. General museumgoers who arrive on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will continue to be warmly welcomed in our museums.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when The Café is closed, our team is happy to recommend other eateries for lunch. Guests who bring a picnic will find outdoor tables and chairs on The Frick Art Museum Terrace, Car and Carriage Museum Terrace, Grable Visitor Center Courtyard, and (available for picnickers on days when The Café is closed) on The Café Patio.
