Holiday Tour of Clayton

Through the Back Door: Domestic Service at Clayton During the Holidays
Offered November 16, 2017 – January 7, 2018

This Christmas, we’re entering Clayton through the back door—like the household staff who kept the household running during the busy winter season. A grand home like Clayton and the elaborate lifestyle of the Frick family required substantial help from domestic staff, particularly during the holidays. This winter, we’ve combined our holiday tour with a look at the responsibilities of the household staff, giving visitors to Clayton a new perspective on Gilded Age holidays, and the employees who worked to keep Clayton running efficiently while attending to the Frick family and their many guests. Click here for more information.

COST:
FREE for Frick members
$15 adult non-members
$13 seniors, students and active-duty military
$8 youth 6–16
Youth 5 and under are free.

Reservations: Strongly recommended. Call 412-371-0600 or purchase tickets online.

PLEASE NOTE: An important conservation project is currently underway at Clayton. The project addresses the Penn Avenue-facing façade and porch of the building, including the enclosed areas of the porch. For the duration of the project, the Penn Avenue entrance and the Enclosed Porch will be closed. Tours will enter Clayton through the kitchen entrance. We will continue to offer one-hour tours of Clayton, and we thank you for your patience and support as we complete the important work that is essential to maintaining the integrity of this historic home.
