Executive Director Announcement

Dear Frick Community,

The Frick Pittsburgh's Board of Trustees and I are thrilled to announce the appointment of Amanda Dunyak Gillen to the role of Executive Director.

After a four-month, national search for a new Executive Director, we concluded that the best person for the job was already at the Frick. Amanda has worked enthusiastically to keep the organization on course while serving as Interim Executive Director since November 2024, and we have the utmost confidence in her ability to continue to steer the Frick forward.

Amanda has spent more than 20 years at the Frick, starting at the organization as an intern in the Curatorial Department. From 2013 until she was appointed Interim Director, she was the Frick's Director of Learning and Visitor Experience where she oversaw all adult, student, and family programs related to the museum's collection.

Amanda's dedication to the Frick is clear to the board, staff, and all who have the pleasure of knowing her. Beyond her incredible work with the Learning Department, Amanda has been integral to initiatives outlined in our strategic plan. She co-led the reinterpretation of our award-winning tour of Clayton. She served as a member of the redesign team for the Frick's $15 million expansion in the early 2010s, which included a new Education Center with facilities to support programming for learners of all ages and needs.

Outside of the Frick, Amanda also is a stalwart of the arts community and the greater Pittsburgh community. She has been a member of the board of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums since 2017 and has served as its vice-chair for the past year. She teaches at Duquesne University as an Adjunct Professor, helping to form the next generation of museum educators and historians. As a resident of Mt. Lebanon, she is also active with the community's historical society, serving as the organization's president in 2024.

We thank you for being a valued member of the Frick community. Whether you've been one of our visitors since the 1990s or you recently joined us, your support encourages us to continue to reexamine and reconceptualize our history through a contemporary lens — something we are positive Amanda will put at the forefront of her tenure.

Congratulations, Amanda! We thank you for your continued service to the Frick!

All the best,

Steve Pavsner
