Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with hours and days to sometimes vary; includes occasional weekend and evening hours

Responsibilities:
- Maintain the Grounds of the site which includes planting, mulching, trimming trees and shrubs, seeding, weeding, fertilizing, pruning, mowing and watering as instructed by the Grounds Manager
- Perform basic gardening duties within the Greenhouse to ensure it is in a presentable state for all visitors and school groups
- Operate and use a variety of mowers, blowers, weeding equipment, etc.
- Handle snow and ice removal during the winter months
- Assist the Housekeeping & Maintenance Department with moves including furniture, supplies and other items
- Other duties as requested by management
- Basic knowledge of landscaping practices and techniques helpful
- Possess a friendly and cooperative manner

Summary: The Museum Experience Associate plays a vital role in welcoming, orienting, and providing exceptional customer service to visitors to the Frick Pittsburgh. MEAs work at the Grable Visitor Center admissions desk and Museum Store, processing tour and event reservations, utilizing point-of-sale systems to sell tickets, memberships, and store merchandise, and providing information about exhibitions, events, Café offerings, and museum policies. The MEA will be joining the Frick during an exciting period of renewal and change, as the museum seeks to become an actively anti-racist organization that can serve as a vital resource for our entire community.

Responsibilities:
- Cheerfully answer and direct phone calls, answer questions, and provide site-specific information
- Process reservations for exhibition admission, tour tickets, public programs, and special events
- Effectively engage visitors in the Museum Store, assist with their merchandise selections and actively suggest the pairing of other items to maximize sales
- Actively promote and sell memberships and participate in achieving membership selling goals and promote current and upcoming site-wide events and programs
- Welcome and orient visitors to the site while maintaining excellent customer service
- Open and close admissions and store registers and assist in the daily operations of the Visitor Center
- Handle cash, credit card, and special transactions quickly and efficiently
- Maintain a working knowledge of various aspects of the point of sale (POS) system; troubleshoot hardware and ticketing software; maintain comfort in responding to various situations that may arise
- Maintain overall Visitor Center appearance and ensure that merchandise displays are always fresh and clean by daily re-stocking and dusting the shelves, cabinetry, and product
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with visitors and staff – both in person and over the phone
- Prior retail sales and cash handling required, and competency with Point of Sale or reservation systems preferred
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and accepting of challenges; strong problem-solving skills

Summary: Through excellent customer service, provide visitors to The Café at the Frick with an excellent dining experience. Become familiar with and perform all aspects of the front side of the Café; this includes: cashier, host, server, busser, sales, stocking, opening/closing, and cleaning. Some additional back of house duties also required. The Café Service Staff will foster positive internal and external relationships, bring energy, enthusiasm to the café and work in a collaborative environment in order to maintain and grow the reputation of the Café. The Café Service Staff will be joining the Frick during an exciting period of renewal and change, as the museum seeks to become an actively anti-racist organization that can serve as a vital resource for our entire community.

Responsibilities:
- Become familiar with daily features, lunch and dessert items
- Assist with food preparation
- Have a working knowledge of the current menu and be able to explain all menu items to guests
- Service tables in a professional efficient and friendly manner
- Welcome guests, answer questions and direct guests to counter to order
- Working knowledge of POS systems, ability to process payments and handle cash
- Opening and closing sidework
- Assist with dishwashing
- Cleaning - clean kitchen and front of house
- Keep beverage areas stocked and organized
- Service bar duties
- Stock supplies and inform the Café Manager if low on any items
- Work with the Café Manager to handle any problems arising with visitors to ensure customer satisfaction
- Treat visitors and colleagues with respect and courtesy at all times

Summary: As members of the Learning and Visitor Experience department, Clayton tour facilitators provide guided, visitor-centered tours of Clayton for the general public and private groups. The signature Clayton tour experience, Gilded, Not Golden, explores the Gilded Age through the experiences of the Frick family and other 19th-century Pittsburghers, examining what it was like to live in this city at the dawn of modern America.

Reports to: Learning and Interpretive Manager
Hours: This is a non-exempt, part-time hourly position. Weekly hours vary Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 a.m. –5:00 p.m. as needed. Training sessions and meetings (including pre-employment) required. Weekend, occasional evening hours, and occasional holidays required.

Process: Candidates are initially hired as Clayton trainees. Pending completion of the training course and performance evaluation, trainees will then become Frick employees as part of the facilitator corps.
Responsibilities:
- Lead dynamic, interactive, engaging tours of Clayton for the general public and group tours. Tours of Clayton look beyond the Frick family story to explore the Gilded Age as a pivotal time in U.S. history and are based in storytelling and visitor engagement.
- Learn and present accurate information on all aspects of the Gilded Age and The Frick Pittsburgh (in addition to Clayton this includes The Frick Art Museum, the Car & Carriage Museum, the greenhouse and the Playhouse).
- Understand the complexities of history and the Gilded Age, including capitalism, wealth disparity, race and gender inequality, unfair labor practices etc., and facilitate conversations about these complexities in a clear, engaging way.
- Work cooperatively and flexibly as part of a collaborative interpretive corps.
- Work closely with Museum Experience Associates, other frontline staff, and the Assistant Manager of Interpretation to provide excellent customer service for all visitors to Clayton.
- Work closely with the Safety Department to ensure the safety of the house and collections during guided tours of Clayton.
- Attend mandatory ongoing training sessions and meetings to keep current on new tours, content information, tour techniques and topics related to the collections or visiting exhibitions.
- Serve as an ambassador for The Frick Pittsburgh, promoting the entire site and its programs, including membership.
- Assist with special events, tours and programs relating to Clayton and/or The Frick Pittsburgh as a whole, as requested. This includes, but is not limited to, holiday tours of Clayton throughout the month of December and large yearly events like Summer Fridays.
- Other duties as requested by management.

- Prior experience leading inquiry-based, informal learning experiences in a museum or historic site setting is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff and visitors of all backgrounds.
- Passion for history and sharing experiences with others; enthusiastic storyteller interested in the Gilded Age and how it relates to contemporary issues.
- Reliable, punctual and willing to work a flexible schedule. Candidates should expect to work weekends, some holidays (The Frick Pittsburgh is closed on Juneteenth, July Fourth, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and occasional evenings as needed. Although scheduling is flexible, ideal candidates should be looking for regular work on a weekly basis and must provide a minimum amount of availability per month.
- Must be able to lead three (3) one-hour tours per shift. Candidates must feel confident ascending/descending stairs daily and feel comfortable standing for long periods of time. Candidates must be prepared to work in all weather conditions as Clayton is a historic space with minimal climate control and tours take place partially outdoors.
- Must have access to a computer to download training materials and to receive work-related communications. Must be responsive via email. Proficiency with Google Drive is a plus.
- Possess a fun, friendly, confident personality. Engaging speakers with strong communication skills, enthusiasm, and adaptability are encouraged to apply.
- BA in history, education, museum studies, art history or a related field OR comparable working experience preferred. Work/volunteer experience should be in education, art history, history, museum studies or a related field.
- Must pass Act 33/34 clearance and criminal background checks and FBI clearances.
- Successful candidates must commit to learning a large amount of information in a relatively short time and possess the initiative to complete large portions of training on their own.
- Training consists of readings, self-directed learning, and weekly or bi-weekly check-ins with other trainees and interpretive staff.
- Trainees will be paid for all in-person training meetings and for 10 hours per week of self-directed training time until the training period is complete.
- Candidates that meet all training requirements will be required to lead a sample tour (referred to as a clearing tour) for management and will be evaluated on their skills. Successful candidates will be cleared to begin giving tours to the public and will become official Frick employees.
- Trainees who are unable to complete a clearing tour to the satisfaction of management after two (2) attempts will be dismissed from the facilitator position and will no longer be employees of The Frick Pittsburgh.

Summary: The Gallery Attendants are reliable, strong customer service-oriented individuals who combine the responsibilities of gallery safeguarding with conveying museum information. Gallery Attendants are responsible for overseeing the gallery spaces (The Frick Art Museum [FAM] the Car & Carriage Museum [CCM] and Clayton) and protecting the art and exhibits while ensuring a positive museum experience by providing exemplary customer service. The Gallery Attendants are key members of the Frick’s visitor-centered staff.

Responsibilities:
- Commitment to fostering a workplace culture of equity and inclusion.
- Serve as a liaison to visitors while promoting safety of the museum, communicate clearly and consistently with visitors to ensure a positive museum experience.
- Enforce museum guidelines in a clear and friendly manner.
- Assist in visitor data collection.
- Monitor visitors in gallery spaces to provide smooth flow of visitation, prioritize artwork and visitor safety during regular museum hours, onsite programs, and special events.
- Serve as internal first responders, including by assisting visitors and staff with basic first aid and by contacting emergency services as needed.
- Completes and submits internal incident reports as needed.
- Monitor site-wide HVAC system and troubleshoot basic problems with the proprietary software.
- Assists in monitoring temperature and humidity levels throughout FAM and CCM which may include monitoring basic operations of the HVAC equipment, responding to alarms, tracking history, etc.
- Works in Clayton, FAM and the CCM to ensure that visitors, staff, and the collections are properly attended to.
- Attend staff exhibition trainings, museum-wide trainings, and all staff meetings as able.
- Handles other duties as requested.
Qualifications:

- High degree of reliability and trustworthiness.

- Successful completion of museum-sponsored verbal de-escalation, first aid, and CPR training.
