Dr. David and Susan Werner join the Frick’s chief curator and director of collections, Dawn Brean, in a conversation about their passion for collecting Scandinavian and Nordic art and the stories behind the stunning artworks and objects featured in The Scandinavian Home: Landscape and Lore.
The Scandinavian art collection of David and Susan Werner, which comprises the majority of the exhibition, is remarkable for both its wide variety of materials and its quality. Encompassing painting, drawing, furniture, textiles, glass, metalwork, ceramics, and works on paper, and with a primary focus on the years 1880-1940, it offers a singular opportunity for a comprehensive and multi-medial exploration of this seminal period in Scandinavian culture.
Advance registration encouraged; walk-up tickets can be purchased in the Grable Visitor Center on the day of the program while space is available. Reservation does not include admission to the exhibition.
