CANCELED: Full Day Youth Art Workshop: Nature Art

In these workshops, students grades 2-5 will explore art and history through the Frick’s collections while developing their art skills across creative mediums with teaching artists. These workshops inspire curiosity and give students a safe place to connect, discover, and create. Participants can expect to leave with between two to five finished works of art depending on the workshop and pace of the artist.

Policies

Photography Policy

The Frick occasionally photographs, films or shoots videos of program participants during activities held on the premises and publishes these photographs (and/or uses in motion pictures or videotapes) for educational and promotional purposes. If you do not want photos of your child to be taken, please let us know when you drop your child off.

Drop-off and Pick-up Policy

• For Full Day Workshops, drop-off is between 8:30 am – 9:00 am in the Education Center courtyard, located across from the Grable Visitor Center. All students must be picked up by an adult between 4:30 pm– 5:00 pm in the same location.
• The adult bringing your child must sign them in and out. We will have sign-in sheets at the entrance to the classroom. We do not permit students to leave unless they are accompanied by an adult.
• Photo ID is required from adults at pick-up.
• Should someone different be picking your child up at the end of the day, you must notify Frick staff of their full name that morning at drop-off.

Student Behavioral Expectations Policy

The Frick Pittsburgh aims to provide the best possible workshop experience for all students. Our programs are spaces for kids to explore, create, and make new friends.

To ensure that everyone has the best possible experience, we expect all students and staff to:

• Respect yourself
• Respect others
• Respect the space
• Respect the art materials

At the start of each workshop, Frick educators review the rules and behaviors necessary for everyone to have a positive experience. In addition to these expectations, there are a number of overall health and safety rules which must be followed at all times, including:

• Students must remain with adult supervision in designated areas at all times.
• Take care of all art materials, art projects, and spaces used.
• Treat all other students, staff, and public museum visitors with respect.
• Threats and acts of physical violence are prohibited.

Discipline Procedures Policy

When a student does not follow behavioral expectations, Frick staff will respond in accordance with the nature of the violation.

• Staff will redirect the student to more appropriate behavior.
• The student will be reminded of behavior guidelines and workshop rules, and the student will be asked to decide on action steps to correct their behavior. Parents and guardians may be called upon to assist with solutions.
• If adults have already been contacted to assist in correcting behavior two times, a third disruption may result in the student being dismissed from camp.

There is a zero-tolerance policy for threats or acts of physical violence. If the safety of another student or staff member is at risk, parents/guardians will be called for an immediate dismissal.

Registration fees are non-refundable if a student is sent home for disciplinary reasons.
