Join us under the stars for a nostalgic summer night featuring the 1978 classic on the big screen, with live harmonies from PCC to guide every “sha na na na” and “hopelessly devoted” refrain. Think of them as the ultimate do wop backup to keep the whole lawn singing in perfect pitch. Set amid the elegance of our Gilded Age grounds, this lively evening bridges past and present with a wink and a twist. Pack a picnic, dress 1950s style, come ready to belt it out, and revel in retro joy where Greased Lightning never looked so classy.
Advance registration and pre-payment is required. Upon arrival, attendees will check-in and receive a wristband at the main gate. Participants are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic-style refreshments. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, attendees are encouraged to arrive no earlier than 7:00 p.m. Screening begins at 8:45 p.m.; film runtime is 1 hour and 45 minutes.
In case of inclement weather, the program will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 8:45 p.m.
The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale (PCC) is the city and region's premiere large all-volunteer choir. Under Music Director Dr. Susan Medley's leadership, the choir strives to sing a variety of genres at the highest level of artistic excellence. The choir supports the musical education of high school singers through its annual Festival of Choirs at Oakland's Carnegie Music Hall and makes community appearances at venues such as the Fort Pitt Fourth of July ceremony. PCC has performed locally, regionally, and internationally, including tours to Italy, Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
