Description:
Just as the holiday season has always been filled with food, family, music, and stories, Pittsburgh has always been a city of diversity. With so many varied cultures living in our city, it is not surprising that many traditions—religious, secular, and cultural—are celebrated here. Join us for a 3-part online series that explores both the familiar and lesser known customs and celebrations of the winter season. In our third and final session, we explore the theme of light and its symbolic significance this time of year.
Celebrations of the Season: Lights Across Pittsburgh

Program Details

An interfaith, interracial, intercultural celebration of Pittsburgh diversity co-presented by the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh Center for Loving Kindness and Christian Associates of Southwest PA. A demonstration of holiday lighting rituals will be followed by a roundtable discussion, led by Rabbi Ron Symons and Rev. Liddy Barlow. What connections do we see across these traditions? How do these traditions inspire us to find hope and move toward acts of service and kindness? What inspiration can these traditions offer to our city at the ending of such a challenging year?
