Description:
Learn how to use collage to encourage personal storytelling, art as activism, and collaborative culture in the classroom. Educators will create a personalized work of art in the style and technique of Romare Bearden. Explore color and shape through collage and watercolor, as well as storytelling methods and music, while drawing inspiration from the life amd history of the artist. Pittsburgh-based artist and arts educator Alison Zapata and artist and founder of The Coloured Section Black Artists' Collective Natiq Jalil will facilitate. Exhibition tour, breakfast, and lunch included. Eligible attendees will receive three (3) Act 48 hours, a free one-year teacher membership, and a field trip for 25 students to the Frick.
